TumiShop reviews everyday products — the things you touch daily rather than the things you admire in a shop window. Here is how a product earns a place on this site.
We buy, then write
Every product reviewed here was bought with our own money and used for at least thirty days. Nothing is reviewed from a press release or a spec sheet.
The question we ask
Not “is this good?” but “would I replace it if it broke?” That single question removes most of what gets recommended elsewhere.
What makes us say no
Products that work only until the first problem. Products with proprietary parts you cannot replace. Products sold mainly on aesthetics. If we cannot see it lasting five years of normal use, it does not go on the list.
So few recommendations
Five picks per category, not fifty. James Okafor writes the reviews and updates them as products are discontinued or as our opinion changes — the update date sits at the top of every article.
Corrections
If a recommendation has aged badly, tell us: contact@tumishop.com. We retest and amend.
